Model in gazebo moves violently, with JointTrajectoryController

The issue was with inertia. The inertia was too small and some values were negative. I increased inertia of all the links and it started behaving normally.

Does gazebo_ros2_control need to be sourced/built/linked after installation via apt?

If you install gazebo_ros2_control via apt, this should be fine and all dependencies should be installed. Can you follow the steps described https://control.ros.org/humble/doc/ros2_control_demos/...

Error: Loader for controller 'asc' not found

Please be aware that Foxy is EOL and not maintained any more. Have you tested the demos shipped with gazebo_ros2_control, do they launch?
