Currently, I am working on the trajectory tracking problems of autonomous ground vehicle and a little confused about the applicability of control theory for different types of wheeled mobile robots.

I know that both the differentially driven and car-like wheeled robots are non-holonomic mobile robots. Are the control techniques can be interchangeably used for both types of robots? For example, if a specific type of sliding mode controller was implemented for a differentially driven robot, can I assume that it should provide similar performance for a car-like mobile robot as well?
