Is it possible to charge the battery of the iRoomba Create 2 while the robot is running? For example, can I connect the robot to a power source (the wall) using a cable, so it runs essentially indefinitely, instead of returning it to the dock for stationary charging?
Eventually I'd like to research wireless-charging of the robot while it is in motion, and its not clear to me if the robot's battery can be charged while it is running (like a laptop, for example), or - and I suspect more likely - the robot can either be charged OR run from the battery power, using two distinct states. Can the robot be 'tricked' into operating while the battery is being charged?
If the robot's battery cannot be charged while it is operating, I imagine I'll need a circuit that will allow me to power the main supply (bypassing the battery) and perhaps remove the battery altogether.
