# Reliable IMUs for ROS

I'm having problems in finding reliable IMU's in ROS. So far, I have tried the UM7 and the myAHRS+ with no luck. The first one, keeps resetting its magnetic reference and the second one works well but the x axis is pointing to the north ( x-north, y-west, z-up convention ) instead to the east ( ROS convention x-east, y-north, z-up convention ).

Does anybody know one that works out of the box?

Best,

• What you require is a bit unclear, in particular the relation to ROS. Are you looking for hardware with ROS drivers ? Moreover, if the axis are not aligned to a convention you want to follow directly to the reading you can just apply a transformation matrix. Lastly the hardware you cite already contain kalmann filter so which output do you want of your IMU and for what purpose ? Keep in ming tht IMU are integrating accelerations to get positions so they are subject to drift ... – N. Staub May 22 '18 at 8:59
• x axis is pointing to the north ... maybe that is the y axis – jsotola May 22 '18 at 17:26
